Bonus bids available for 2021 NTRP National Championships

Ready to punch your ticket to the NTRP National Championships? USTASoCal may have a bid for you!

The 2021 NTRP National Championships will take place in April at multiple locations nationwide, including Surprise, Ariz., Orlando, Fla., and right here in San Diego.

The tournament uses the Fast4 play format (best of three sets to 4 games, no-ad scoring and a 5-point tiebreak at 3-3). Players will be placed into round robins, with the top finishers advancing to a playoff.

While all 2020 qualifiers will retain their bids for this 2021 event, each USTA Section has been granted additional bids that must be filled by March 5th.

In a normal year, players qualify for SoCal bids through the year-end ranking list, year-end grand prix list, and a section-hosted NTRP National Championship Section Qualifier. Pandemic restrictions prevented the Section from administering the bids in this manner, allowing instead for an open bid process eligible for all eligible SoCal players.

To qualify for the bid process, you must have a valid Tournament Rating (T), valid Computer Rating (C), or an Appealed Rating (A).

Self-rated players (S) may be eligible pending play history and sportsmanship. Any self-rated player will have to be approved by the national office. Mixed Exclusive rated players (M) are not eligible.

Please note that if the number of bids submitted exceeds allowances, the Section office will use 2020 Southern California year-end rankings to select our endorsees. If the players are not listed on the 2020 year end rankings, we will look at 2019 year end rankings. If players are not listed on the 2019 year end rankings, we will use a player’s 2019 year end rating or recent dynamic ratings.
