USTA Southern California features a number of tennis programs for juniors, adults and seniors at the beginning, recreational, and competitive levels.

JOB SUMMARY

Represent USTA Southern California’s programming regionally, engaging with tennis providers and industry partners to grow section participation. Work cross functionally with Adult, Junior, Community and Marketing department teams. Administer Customer Relationship Management (CRM), digital project management and event registration platforms. Facilitate partner activations and deliverables. Support department director with special projects.

This is a full time non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay and reports to the Director of Engagement and Industry Relations. Our offices are located in Los Angeles. At the present time we are working remotely; however, staff is required to attend in-person meetings as required.
  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cultivate relationships with industry providers, vendors and USTA staff.
  • Maintain detailed records in CRM and train staff on the platform.
  • Become adept with USTA digital and internal project management platforms.
  • Manage sponsor and partner deliverables, data and scheduling.
  • Coordinate event group and staff hotel contracted blocks.
  • Assure billing is accurate, timely and remitted.
  • Provide research, trending and analysis reports detailing projects through fruition.
  • Project Management support.
  • Participate in achieving overall department, personal and section KPI’s based on Strategic Plan.   
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Sales and customer service experience.
  • Tennis industry knowledge, inclusive of playing experience at any level.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of the Southern California region.
  • Ability to work remote. Travel within Southern California for events, provider engagements and monthly staff meetings, including some weekends (approximately 20% of time)
     

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May require extended time outdoors with temperatures above 90 degrees.
  • May require lifting boxes/equipment. 
     

SALARY/BENEFITS:

  • Pay rate is $23-25 per hour commensurate with education and experience.

JOB SUMMARY

USTA Southern California is seeking to hire a Community Tennis Coordinator to help bring tennis programming to schools, public parks, non-profit partners, under-resourced communities, and all communities throughout Southern California.

USTA Southern California is one of the 17 sectionals of the United States Tennis Association, the national governing body of tennis. The USTA Southern California provides recreational and competitive programs, tournaments, and wheelchair and adaptive tennis for juniors, adults, and seniors of all abilities, ages, and
ethnicities.

This full-time position reports to the Director of Community, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  

RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Engage with leaders of parks departments, schools, recreational organizations, tennis organizations, and other community-based groups to develop and promote tennis growth, especially in underserved regions.
  • Coordinate and participate in tennis events or meetings to strengthen the tennis delivery system and represent USTA Southern California.
  • Identify, conduct, and develop educational and training opportunities for tennis coaches and providers.
  • Carry out administrative work, such as preparing reports and presentations and managing inventory.
  • Assist with DEI initiatives.
  • Organize on-court clinics, workshops, and training.
  • Assist in planning and developing Community Department goals and objectives and support department managers in all Community Tennis program activities.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree or 2-4 years of work experience in tennis or a related field
  • Tennis background: Teaching, coaching, and playing experience
  • Familiarity with the USTA Net Generation curriculum
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; skilled in administrative and organizational tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with diverse individuals from different backgrounds, races, and ethnicities
  • Experience in coordinating outreach efforts and serving as a liaison for communities of color
  • Ability to present and communicate effectively to racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse audiences
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector is desirable
     

OTHER DETAILS:

  • The position requires frequent traveling throughout Southern California during weekdays and some weekends. A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are a must. Applicants should be prepared to work on-court, off-site, and on weekends.
  • This is a full-time position:  $24.04 per hour
  • Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k plan, paid vacation, and paid parking

  • Livescan background check for L.A. Parks & Recreation
  • First Aid/CPR Certification

Pay rates vary depending on the tournament and the amount of duties assigned, but generally fall between $20 and $30 per hour. Prior tennis knowledge is a plus, but not required!
