The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced pre-season standings for Division II tennis, and two Southern California programs feature prominently among the nation’s top squads. Men’s and Women’s teams from both Azusa Pacific and Concordia have placed within the top 25 to start the spring campaign.
After finishing inside the Top 10 and the end of last year, Azusa Pacific’s Cougars return at #8 in the Men’s ranks, powered by Germany’s Sam Sippel and featuring SoCal’s Ryan Nuno (Sylmar), Ian Lee (La Cañada), and Lleyton Bohren (Claremont). Columbus
Back again this year at #11, the Women feature Caroline Brooner (San Diego), Audrey Stewart (Apple Valley), Katia Betancourt (West Covina), and Madison Kane (Pasadena).
At Concordia University Irvine, the Men will start their campaign at #14 with a fully international team featuring players from France, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany, Morocco, and Taiwan.
The Women at Concordia squeak in at #25 on the pre-season rankings with SoCal’s Evelyn Bob (Riverside), Rebekah Anderson (Fullerton), and Heather Richards (Hemet).
Columbus State leads the DII preseason Men’s rankings, while Barry University is favored in the Women’s ranks.
