UPDATE 7/10: JUNIOR SECTIONALS POSTPONED
USTA Southern California has announced the rescheduling of the 2020 Junior Sectional Championships. The prestigious tournament, which gathers the brightest young talent across the Section, will be held on two successive weekends beginning Saturday, July 25-27 and Friday, July 31 – August 2, according to Director of Junior Tennis Trevor Kronemann.
The new schedule is subject to the ongoing health climate and the possibility of extended or revised suspension of tennis activities as determined by the USTA. Originally slated for June, Junior Sectionals had been delayed due to the COVID-19 suspension of play.
“Junior Sectionals is one of the larger annual tournaments on our schedule,” says Kronemann. “We understand the gravity of this major event and how it impacts the budding careers of our young competitive players. With the guidance of the USTA, along with input from local health officials and our host facilities, we are confident that the championships will bring an unparalleled level of junior tennis back to Orange County this summer.”
The Junior Sectional Championships is a USTA Southern California Signature Series event.
