Sportsmanship & Recognition - USTA Southern California

USTA LEAGUE TENNIS

Recognition & Sportsmanship

Thank you!

Southern California tennis is made up of many excellent and outstanding players and captains. We would like to share our appreciation for the individual standouts and we’d like to give you the opportunity to nominate either a player, local captain or both. Thank you for being admirable members of our Southern California Tennis community.

Sportsmanship:

Too often we hear about gamesmanship and misconduct on the court. It’s time to recognize players who demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after matches.

Please take a moment and nominate somebody for USTA Southern California’s sportsmanship award. All nominees will be acknowledged and congratulated on this site.  Each month, a winner will be selected from that month’s nominees and will receive a small gift!

Thanks for helping us reward good behavior and sportsmanship!

2021 Captain of the Year

USTA Southern California understands the value in recognizing and honoring our outstanding USTA League Captains.

Without captains, we would have no leagues! The Captain of the Year program honors exceptional captains from each of our 13 league areas. Those captains are awarded with Captain of the Year awards for their individual areas, and from that pool of honorees, we identify a Section-wide USTA Southern California Captain of the Year.

Captain of the Year Banquet

Each year, the Section recognizes our Captains of the Year at a luncheon where captains, their guests, their Area League Coordinators, and USTA SoCal Adult Department staff come together for a day of celebration.

When choosing Captains of the Year, the Section looks to honor those who:

  • Exhibit a high level of sportsmanship and leadership on and off the court
  • Treat teammates with respect and take responsibility for their actions
  • Mentor other captains and players
